I can’t say enough about this bomber jacket and how I want to live in it for the rest of my days! This is McCall’s 7100, a very popular bomber jacket pattern that almost every sewer has tackled. I love this pattern because it is an easy sew with great instructions. I will be the first to tell you that I hate reading pattern instructions, I would rather follow a video, but I don’t have any complaints about this pattern.
I used an African Print cotton cloth that I purchased from Fine Fabrics. This is an unlined jacket, but I added a lining using a brown Tricot because I wanted a little extra support on cooler days. Even though you don’t have to line it, I prefer a lining because you can give it some extra flavor by adding a contrasting color if you like. I made this jacket in a blue and yellow African Print last year, you can check out that blog post here.
So, I said that I wasn’t going to fall into the hype of wearing an outfit for the Black Panther movie that will be out this Friday, but I think I’m going to rock my bomber jacket! I’m in the process of making a backpack with Black Panther fabric but I’m not sure it will be done in time. Talk to you soon!
Great bomber jacket and hope you get a chance to finish your backpack.
Thank you!
Hi,
Your jacket is beautiful. I recently made the one by Mimi G. I just love it. I’ll be blogging about it soon. I may get the pattern you used too.
Be blessed
Thank you! I made Mimi’s version as well in a brown quilted fabric but I never blogged about it.
