Brown and Tan

Hello all! If you can’t tell already, I am doing a shades of brown theme this week. You never really realize how much of one color you have in your closet and fabric stash until you start sewing. I tend to reach for brown and black more then any other colors. This spring and summer I’m going to try my best to incorporate more color but for right now I am enjoying this brown.

The top is Kwik Sew 3740 made from a brown Ponte knit from Fine Fabrics. I actually made the top a while ago, but it was too tight, so I had to put it away for safe keeping. This Ponte knit fabric is so yummy, I wish that you could reach through your device and feel it. The outfit from yesterday’s post was made from the same fabric and I could literally live in it.

I paired the top with a pair of Old Navy stretch khaki pants that were in my closet. I bought these a while ago, but you can find a similar pair here. I love these pants the fit is absolutely perfect! I also added the Angie Clutch made from Cork Fabric. The Angie Clutch is a free PDF pattern with a step by step video tutorial!

I also made Simplicity 8811 from a light weight sweater knit from Fine Fabrics. I found this fabric in the remnant section, I always seem to luck up and find a gem! I made a mistake with the pockets when I was sewing this sweater, I didn’t line them up right so one pocket is further back than the other. You can’t really tell because of the design on the fabric and how I posed.

Overall both patterns are beginner friendly and I highly recommend them!

Beautiful top! I came to the site to check out the bag tutorials, but this is so pretty. Nice material.
