Happy New Year!!!! Wow can you believe that it is 2018? Last year seems like a blur but there were some memorable moments. First off, lets talk about where I’ve been because there was a long pause between blog posts towards the end of the year. I had an abdominal myomectomy on October 25 and my doctor removed 8 fibroids. I had been suffering from fibroids for at least 10 years and I don’t know why I waited so long to take care of them. I am still on the mend, but I was able to get back to sewing and creating some beautiful pieces. I also turned 40 and I attended Dragon Con for the first time!
Now on to this jumpsuit. This is McCall’s 7135, made in a Coffee Bean Poly/Rayon/Lycra Ponte knit from Fabricmartfabrics.com. I made this jumpsuit last year in a black and white scuba knit.
I cut a 12 for the top and a 14 for the pants. The pattern fit perfectly, which almost never happens! I am in the Mimi G Sew It Academy and this pattern is used for Three Fall Pieces Sew-Along course #16. Even though I have made the jumpsuit before, the course was helpful in sewing view B, which I will post on Thursday.
This is a great pattern for beginners and you can make this jumpsuit in a variety of colors. The inspiration for shortening the pants came from Mimi G, she made the jumpsuit in black and cropped the length. This is definitely becoming a staple in my wardrobe.
If you are a beginner or just want to learn new skills such as tailoring, making coats, drafting slopers, etc, I highly recommend joining the sew it academy. You can find the information here.
Lejanaro, I was following you and your sewing adventures a year ago. But, I deleted my old account and thought of you and looked you up. I liked how you have grown in skills. I am going to have the Davinci hysterectomy. How was your healing process?
Hello Vicki,
Thank you! I’m trying to learn something new with every garment or bag that I make. I’m healing very well, I thought that I would be in a lot of pain after the surgery but there was only soreness in the area of the incision. Since I only had the fibroids removed, there is some scar tissue on my uterus so I feel it during my cycle. Good luck with your procedure!
Thanks Lejanaro. I appreciate your sharing your experience. You sew so well already. How great that you use the blog to record your journey. I hope to join in soon. I am taking a WordPress class through Ed2go now. Take care and thank you again. Welcome to the 40s. We are fabulous!????
Thank you! Let me know when you start blogging and how everything goes with your procedure.
