Today’s look is a collaboration with my sew sister Lashandra look that represents February the Love Month. The focus of the project was to use a shade of red fabric in honor of Love Month. You can find her blog here. For this look I decided to use McCall’s 7979 because it can be worn as a top with leggings or a dress. I decided to make view C the dress. I love this dress because it is oversized and very comfortable. This dress also has a cowl neck collar which is one of my favorite collars to make and wear.
There are 3 views on this pattern, which includes 2 tops with short sleeves and long sleeves and the dress view. I used a red light weight sweater knit that I purchased from Fine Fabrics. I decided to wear my black knee boots to complete the look.
This pattern is an easy sew and very beginner friendly. There are only a few pieces, which you know is something that I absolutely love! I cut a 16 for the top of the dress and I graded to 24 for the hips. This made the dress very oversized, which was the look I was going for. I made this dress in under an hour from start to finish. Overall, I enjoyed making this dress and I highly recommend it for beginners.
