Empire Waist Dress with Tina

Hello All,

Anyone that knows me, knows that I am adamant about not sewing for other people. If you want a handbag, I am your girl! There is the rare occasion that I make something for my mom or my sister but it has to be something that I have sewn before. My sister called asking about patterns for an empire waist because she was in the mood to pull out her sewing machine, and I found 2 options. One is Simplicity 1375 and the other is McCall’s 5893. I had previously made the McCall’s 5893 for myself, so I knew it was straightforward. This gave me a reason to go to Fine Fabrics (like I needed another reason!) I found some fabric options and I sent Tina a picture and she chose the fabric next to it LOL! My plan was to trim the pattern and cut the fabric so that she could make the dress, but I was in the mood to sew and I went for it! Check out the pattern review below:

Pattern Description: M5893 Misses / Women Empire-Waist Dresses

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the empire waist but not adding the elastic. That is something I have to work on.
