Hello all! It’s time for another time management tip. Now I am not an expert on this but I can truly say that the steps I will share with you have worked for me. “Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible” Tony Robbins. If you do not have goals in life then you are just existing and who wants to just exist? There are a range of different goals that a person can set, short term, midterm, and long term goals. Short term goals can be between 1 to 3 years, midterm goals are 3-5 years and long term goals are 5 years and up. When setting goals you have to be disciplined when it comes to achieving them. “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment”. Jim Rohn
Here are some steps to efficient goal setting:
- Write down specific goals. If one of your goals is weight loss, be specific about it. For example, Don’t just say I want to lose weight, say I want to lose 10 pounds in 2 months.
- Break each goal into tasks and time frames
- Short term: (Ex: I will create a meal plan and exercise 3 times a week)
- Midterm
- Long term
- Write goals for each area of your life. If you focus on only one area of your life, other areas may fall to the wayside.
- Make a plan of action immediately. Don’t wait to start taking steps to complete your goals. Spend at least an hour a day accomplishing one task towards your goals.
- Share your goals with others. Share your goals with others for accountability. They can help keep you on track. Be careful who you share your goals with, everyone does not share your passion.
- Reward yourself. When you complete a task give yourself a small reward. Be careful with this step, don’t reward yourself so much that you lose focus and get off track.
- Reevaluate often. Look back on your list of goals and tasks often to make sure that they are still measurable and attainable. If you find that they are not, rewrite those particular goals and tasks then research other ways to go about achieving them.
