Hello all! I hope that you are having a fabulous week. Today I want to share my thoughts on Simplicity 8982. I finally got around to making the dress from this pattern. I made the skirt to go along with McCall’s 7836, you can read about that here. I also did a pattern review on my YouTube channel that you can watch here.
The dress is a very easy sew, and I highly recommend it to beginners. It reminds me of McCall’s 6886, which is one of the easiest patterns that you will run across. You have five pattern pieces, front, back, sleeves, sleeve band, and neckband. I used a purple rib knit fabric from Fine Fabrics.
I cut an 18 at the top and graded to a 22 at the hips. If I make the top, I think I will cut it at a 16 because it was a little big. I will also cut the sleeve bands smaller because they were big as well. Just like the skirt, I would peg it at the hem about 1.5 inches. Other than that, this is a great pattern.
I paired this pattern with my KaryAll Clutch, which can be a crossbody or fanny pack. The KaryAll Clutch is a free pattern for the newsletter subscribers. There are detailed instructions with pictures and a step by step video tutorial on YouTube.
