Slab # 1: The Doctor Is In

The one thing I love about comic books is they keep you wanting more. If you are not careful, you could spend all of your money trying to finish a specific run of comics. *Disclaimer* I am a beginner so this may not be like any other summary/review you have read. I have a love/hate relationship (mostly love) with the comixology app because sometimes you can find the first issue of a run for free and as soon as you get to the end of that issue, it is a cliff hanger and you have to get the next book to see what happens.

This is exactly what happened with Remote. **Spoilers ahead** This comic is set in Evans County, Pennsylvania in 1966. Now who would have thought I would be remotely interested in a comic book set in that time! KOV TV is interviewing Dr. Grimes regarding finding a solution for those how have been “injured” but is advising that they seek medical attention.

Dr. Grimes began discussing an incident with a cadaver from which all four limbs had been amputated coming back to life. His recommendation is to soak the dead with gasoline and burn them. Of course, everyone in the news station thought he was crazy comparing him to Vincent Price.

Dr. Grimes has two daughters that are still in the city. Angela from the station calls Jane to warn her about the “undead” walking around the city and she insists that someone pick her up and her sister Carol.

Meanwhile in the lab with a cadaver, there is talks of radiation, followed by burning the cadaver to test that theory. Over in another lab room the limbs of the cadaver mentioned early seem to be regenerating. Dr. Grimes then states that he needs a just-bitten specimen…..

Over on the other side of town Grimes’ daughter Jane has been picked up (there is a bong involved) and they head over to pick up Carol. When Carol opens the door Jane screams “CAROL BEHIND YOU”! Well I guess Dr. Grimes has his just-bitten specimen….

Over all I enjoyed this comic book, it has all of the makings of the beginning of a zombie apocalypse. I rate it a 4 out of 5 stars. Unfortunately, this is a 6 issue run but is not currently available on comixology – that’s the reason for the love/hate (mostly love) relationship! I found a few options for you below:
