Work Attire for Fall

Hello All! I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend. Lately I have been wanting to sew clothes that I can wear to work. I receive a great deal of compliments on the jacket from McCall’s 6844 View C but it’s time to make more jackets as well as tops and pants. After an exhaustive search through my patterns, I decided to use New Look 6246 view B & C and New Look 6273 view A.

NL 6246 is a pants and top pattern with the option to add a leg band and tie to the pants. At first, I wanted to go with the wide leg pants on NL 6273 but I decided on the slime leg because I like the fit. The pants also have an elastic waistband and pockets. I used a brown Ponte knit I purchased from Fine Fabrics and I cut a size 16.

I went with the longer sleeve because Fall is right around the corner and I think the color is perfect. The fabric is an ITY knit from Fine Fabrics and I cut a size 10. Overall this pattern is very easy to sew and you can get both pieces done in 2 – 3 hours.

NL 6273 also has a top, skirt, and pants that goes along with the pattern but I was specifically interested in the jacket. I honestly wish I had some black and white fabric similar to the picture on the envelope. Since I had several yards of the brown Ponte knit, I decided to make it a complete outfit.

The jacket comes together easily but I did make a few mistakes when putting together the front and side front pieces. I talk about it here in the Sew Along for this jacket on my YouTube channel.
